On Tuesday a cheque from sponsorship for the RC Weald of Kent’s North Downs Walk was presented to Cancer Research UK
The 2024 North Downs Walk involved 450 walkers and raised a approximately £24,000.
Walkers were given the option of donating 100% of their sponsorship money to the Club’s nominated charity, Cancer Research UK, or retaining 50% for their own good causes. As a result, we were able to give £16,750 to CRUK and 34 other good causes benefited by £7,000+.
Last night, we presented the big cheque to Sherrill Hawker of CRUK. Sherrill then spoke to members about how the money is used, recent research and her own personal connection with cancer.
The 2025 Walk will be the 40th; online registration starts in March, but please save the date now: 8th June 2025.
