SERV Speaker Trevor SayerA fascinating talk at this week’s meeting by Trevor Sayer of SERV Kent (AKA Bloodrunners).

SERV is a voluntary group providing a 365-day, 24-hour service of urgent deliveries to and from NHS hospitals and other establishments. They deliver blood, pathology samples, breast milk for premature newborns and, on one occasion, a teddy bear to a 6-year-old in a hospice.
These guys are heroes of volunteering, they give their time at all hours, they pay for their own fuel and most use their own bikes or cars. Since setting up in 1993, the Kent branch has dealt with 50,000 calls.
