Air ambulance operation explained

At our meeting yesterday evening Simon Clark of Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex gave a talk on its operation,

explaining that it is much more than a patient transport service, effectively providing a mobile A&E unit; where necessary giving treatment from open heart surgery to emergency anaesthesia, at the scene of an incident.

The charity serves an area of 7,390 km², can reach any location within that area in 30 minutes and attended 3,300 incidents last year.
88% of the £18.8m required to run the charity is provided through donations and fundraising from the public. RC Weald of Kent are pleased to have made a small contribution of £ 400 to the recent ‘Buy it for Life’ campaign that enable AAKSS to buy a helicopter that it had previously leased.
