Weald of Kent Rotary heard a fascinating presentation tonight, on behalf of Mercy Ships by Don Cockrill MBE. Mercy Ships is an international charity which operates hospital ships which provide free healthcare, training and surgery to some of the neediest communities in the world. Operations considered routine in the UK, such as repair of a cleft palate or removal of cataracts, are literally life-changing in Africa and are provided free of charge by Mercy Ships. They rely on donations and on self-funding volunteers to keep up this valuable work.
