We were approached by Harrietsham Pre-School, who are based at Harrietsham Church, to ask if we could provide financial support for a wheelchair ramp to enable a child to attend the pre-school.
https://kentmobility.co.uk/ had designed the ideal ramp but Kent County Council would not fund it because the underlying beneficiary was not attending a pre-school located in a Kent County Council property; neither the playgroup nor the church had the cash-flow to support such a spend.
Longstanding Rotary member Duncan Payne visited the setting and then put the case to the Awards Committee for funding.
Ultimately the full cost of the ramp was funded from the club’s own charity, the Mike Collingwood Memorial Fund which focuses on the development of young people
